Umzug Winti

Umzug Winti says it has been moving people around Winterthur since 2009, and unlike most local movers it puts an actual rate card in front of you before you pick up the phone. That alone sets it apart in a market where "request a quote" is the usual answer to "what does this cost." The company works out of Steigstrasse 26 in Winterthur, and describes its territory as Winterthur, Zürich, Thurgau, St. Gallen, Schaffhausen and Aargau.

What you get

The core offer is a household or office move: packing, furniture transport, and unpacking on request, plus move-out cleaning and decluttering for anyone who wants the old flat handled at the same time. Beyond the move itself, Umzug Winti lists furniture storage after a move, packing and unpacking service, furniture assembly and disassembly, and bulky-waste disposal (Sperrmüll). The pitch throughout is "all-inclusive": one package, one price, no separate line items for fuel or mileage.

What it costs

This is where the site earns its keep. Its prices page publishes an hourly rate card for the move itself, priced by the size of the vehicle and the size of the crew:

• One vehicle, roughly 20 cubic metres of load space, with 1 mover: CHF 105 per hour.
• One vehicle, roughly 20 cubic metres, with 2 movers: CHF 160 per hour.
• One vehicle, roughly 35 cubic metres, with 3 movers: CHF 210 per hour.
• Two vehicles, roughly 55 cubic metres combined, with 4 movers: CHF 275 per hour.
• Moves with no vehicle at all (for example switching flats within the same building), or furniture assembly and disassembly on their own, are priced on request.

The site recently restructured its minimum booking, and the numbers are worth checking because they actually tie together: the old minimum was 3 hours at CHF 160 per hour, which the site states came to CHF 480 (3 times 160 does equal 480), and the new minimum is 2 hours at the same CHF 160 rate, coming to CHF 320 (which also checks out). That reduction applies across the cantons the site names for small moves and courier-style transport: Zürich, St. Gallen, Thurgau and Schaffhausen. Booking runs through an online form that checks a requested date's availability immediately and offers alternatives if it is taken.

Umzug Winti also offers free moving boxes delivered to your door. Its own math on why that matters: a typical 3-room move needs about 35 to 40 boxes, and at a shop price of CHF 5 to 7 each, that is CHF 175 to 280 just for the cardboard, a range that lines up with the low and high ends of the box count and price given (35 times 5 is 175, 40 times 7 is 280). The site frames the free boxes as savings of up to that CHF 280 figure.

Move-out cleaning, priced by room count

Separately from the moving rate card, Umzug Winti publishes a flat-rate table for move-out cleaning with what it calls an Abgabegarantie, a handover guarantee: if the landlord raises an issue at handover, the company says it deals with it. The flat rates scale by apartment size:

• 1 to 1.5 rooms: CHF 450 to 700.
• 2 to 2.5 rooms: CHF 650 to 980.
• 3 to 3.5 rooms: CHF 850 to 1300.
• 4 to 4.5 rooms: CHF 1100 to 1540.
• 5 to 5.5 rooms: CHF 1300 to 1700.
• 6 to 6.5 rooms: CHF 1500 to 1900.

The site is upfront that the exact figure within each band only gets fixed after a viewing (Besichtigung) of the flat. On top of the flat rate, it separately offers carpet deep-cleaning by shampoo and vacuum with no price stated, and pressure-washing for balconies and terraces at CHF 55 per hour plus a CHF 4 per square metre surcharge, with a stated minimum charge of CHF 80 for any area under 20 square metres.

Umzug Winti frames its whole pitch around avoiding the two things people dread about hiring movers: hidden costs and vague answers. Every service on the site ends with a specific number rather than a "contact us for pricing" (aside from the two genuinely bespoke cases: vehicle-free moves and standalone furniture assembly). The company also runs seasonal advice on its prices page: packing your own boxes, decluttering before the move to cut the volume being transported, and booking off-peak (mid-week or outside the busy season) for a better rate, though it does not put a number on how much cheaper an off-peak slot actually is.

Who it suits

Anyone who wants to budget a move before ever picking up the phone gets more to work with here than at most rivals: the vehicle-and-crew combinations translate directly into an hourly figure, and the cleaning table lets you estimate a flat cost for handing back the old flat based on nothing more than its room count. The 2-hour, CHF 320 minimum suits a small, single-item or same-building move that would otherwise be padded up to a half-day charge elsewhere. Anyone with a genuinely unusual job, no vehicle needed, or just furniture to reassemble, has to ask directly since those two categories are the only ones the rate card leaves open.

The one thing to flag: this is one company's own published numbers, not an independent audit, and a published rate card is still an estimate until a mover sees the actual apartment and the actual staircase. The site itself says as much for the cleaning prices, and the same caution reasonably extends to the moving rates too.
